I don't really know where I'm going with this - just doodling after work. Not done yet, obviously, but I don't know if I feel like finishing it.

Silhouette-ish things.. Somewhat more refined!
Been sleepy as hell today - I found out that I'm going to be working another 8 hours on Saturday, thanks to the QA rush, so that's been weighing on me quite heavily. It's not really that big of a deal, but I've always taken issue with changes to my personal schedules. But I'll get over it.
So here's some skeletal lovelies, developed from the silhouettes I posted yesterday.

Three silhouette-ish things
It's been a good while since I properly painted in Photoshop (the map doesn't count, since I didn't use my tablet much!), but today I felt like taking a stab at it again. Didn't amount to much, but here are three rough silhouettes for this week's CHoW.

CHoW #290
I don't feel as though this is really progressing anymore, so I think I'll stop. I feel like the design itself is what's tripping me up on the illustration - the face area, with the mask and the beast's jaws/teeth are too confusing, and it's difficult to tell what's what. Of course, that was my intention, but it didn't work out as well as I'd hoped it would. It's complete enough, though, for me to submit it to the CHoW challenge for this week - it's been a good while since I've done that.

CHoW #290 - Rough Idea
I didn't really intend to bother with this week's CHoW, and I'm still not sure if I'll bother much more with it, but I had an idea floating around and figured it wouldn't hurt to vomit it onto a Photoshop canvas. The theme is "Guardian of the Flame," specifically the olympic flame. A pretty weird brief, if you ask me. I don't do many creatures, but this week's brief stipulated that it didn't have to be humanoid, and I felt somewhat inspired by the lions I was doodling yesterday, and a few pictures of hulking tigers I glanced at today.
Edit: Worked on it some more.

CHoW #286 - Doodling
I shouldn't be starting on this just yet, since my art history exam is tomorrow evening. But I couldn't help it. I was getting too stressed out from studying. It's the first CHoW I've participated in since October, so I'm a bit anxious. The brief is:
A Legend tells of a powerful enchantress who will tilt the fate of the world in either good or bad. Whichever side she chooses, will become the dominant force. However she is still young, and it yet to take one path or the other. As a completely neutral being, many have tried to sway her to their sides but have failed. Some have even tried to kill her, so that the legend never has the chance to come true for either good or evil. Because of this, she was given a mechanical guardian to protect her - a being that does not know good or evil itself, only that she must be protected at all costs.
Your challenge is to create a design for BOTH Aoife and her guardian. Remember, they are neither good or evil. Aoife does not have to be a child, but she should also not be an adult woman. The mechanical guardian cannot be a living thing, and can be powered by anything you like, magic, steam, electricity....
